Rosebud Schneider is a manager at Ziibimijwang Farm, owned by the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and located near the Mackinac Straits.
Little Traverse Bay Bands created Ziibimijwang Farm in large part to help achieve food sovereignty and expand the use of traditional foods. “You can’t call yourself sovereign unless you grow your own food,” says Joe Van Alstine, Chair of Ziibimijwang's board.
Groundwork has partnered with LTBB in areas of food access and food education.

Our Choice: What Kind of Road for Boardman Lake?
Traverse City officials want your input on a new road that may be built along the west side of Boardman Lake. The road proposal, which has a long history, dating back to 1970’s, will either be a bypass or a lever for new construction in a long-underutilized part of the city.

I’m pleased to say that travelers stopping in many of our small northern Michigan towns, looking for local fare, will be delighted to find quite a bit of it!
Green Plate Challenge’ Brings Business to Local Emu Farm
Jim Barnes, owner of The Crystal Lake Catering Company, Eco-Building Products, and Wild Leek Productions, produced and promoted the Green Plate Challenge this summer in order to connect local restaurants with local farmers.
